PASTOR EARL THOMAS, (top middle), BARITONE, JOHN THORNBURY (top left) 2ND TENOR; PAUL TRAUTNER, (top right) BASS, AND SAM KINTNER (bottom) FIRST TENOR IN AN ACAPPELLA QUARTET OF THE 1950'S. WE WERE STUDENTS AT LEXINGTON BAPTIST COLLEGE, LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY.
CALLED INTO THE MINISTRY OF THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST, THE QUARTET HAD A LIMITED EXISTENCE DUE TO THEIR HIGHER CALLING. UNLIKE MOST SINGING WITH INSTRUMENTATION, GREAT HARMONY WAS A CHALLENGE WITHOUT IT. KEEP IN MIND THAT WE DID NOT HAVE PROFESSIONAL RECORDING EQUIPMENT.
HERE ARE TWO RECORDINGSOF OUR SONGS FROM 60 YEARS PAST: There was no video back when this recording was made. But there are three pictures of the quartet included. The first above is a 58 minute version with all 19 our songs. The second is 15 minutes in length with these 7 songs: . INTRODUCTION SONG, MY ANCHOR HOLDS, LET THE LOWER LIGHTS BE BURNING, THE UNVEILED CHRIST, WHO IS ON THE LORD'S SIDE, JUST A CLOSER WALK, HALLELUJAH FOR THE CROSS.
