Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Lexington, KY. Pastor JOE H. HEAD
Pleasant Ridge Baptist ChurchLexington, KY. Pastor JOE H. HEAD

FORMER PASTOR, EARL W. THOMAS               CALLED IN 1957 - RETIRED IN 2021

I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Jefferson Twp H.S. class of 1951. Shortly thereafter moved to Lexington, Kentucky to attend Lexington Baptist College. Lexington became my permanent home.

I have been the pastor of our church in Lexington, Kentucky for nearly 64 years. A graduate of Lexington Baptist College with B.A. and B.R.E. degrees, I also served as both a part time and full time professor for several years.

My history as a pastor began at the Williams Baptist Church, Williams, Indiana in 1954, and then at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Stamping Ground, Kentucky in 1956.

This is my third pastorate since God called me into the ministry in 1953.  Pleasant Ridge called me to their pastorate in 1957.  That is the same year that I graduated from LBC and married my dear wife Carol.

It is such a privilege to pastor one of the Lord's bibically sound churches.  In this day of so much new stuff being brought into the churches to try to attract people, it is a blessing to pastor one of the few churches who still does church the way things used to be done, decently and in scriptural order.

The church needs nothing more than the power of God and the straight preaching of the Word to draw those to whom His Holy Spirit is sent.  Every church should minister according to the ability God gives and not depend upon fleshly attractions to bring people in. We need Him.

If we have Him, we are on a solid foundation that will not crumble. Christ loved His church, gave Himself for it, and promised it perpetuity until He comes back the second time. Until then, we need to keep learning, witnessing, praying, following, and doing whatsoever He has command us. And doing so, He promised to be with us unto the end of the age.

We are an independent Baptist Church following the simplicity of the New Testament; honoring the Scriptures as our source of faith and practice.  A loving congregation trying to make a difference for God and for good; generating hope in a troublesome time; encouraging faith by elevating truth; pointing people to Jesus. We preach the Book, the Blood and the Blessed Hope.  Here is a place of Worship, Learning and Service.  We are here for you. Please visit our friendly church soon.
